Reigning Calypso queen of Dominica, Tasha ‘Tasha P” Peltier has made her first mark for the 2012 calypso season. Tasha regained the title of Stardom Calypso Queen of the Tent last evening at the Sisserou Hotel. She captured the title performing her latest calypso ‘I eh leaving you.’
According to calypso lovers this year’s competition among the females was much more interesting and competitive than last year’s. This may have been so due to the addition of newcomers and junior monarch contenders Janay and Nashell. Janay who is the daughter of calyspo writer and analyst Ian Jackson placed second. Twana placed thrid whilst Nashell came in fourth place.

The debate these days is whether Tasha P will also recapture the Calypso Monarchy on February 18th. Tasha, the only female contestant at last year’s final won the title with her renditions of the popular ‘Woman Time’ and ‘Let the children be children.’ Tasha believes that this year competition will be alot more difficult and she will have to work much harder to defend her monarchy.
