Fayann Lyons, Bunji Garlin Hottest act for WCMF 2011

Trinidadian hottest married soca couple Bunji Garlin and Fayann Lyons put on the best act for the entire creole festival season on Sunday evening. During the initial part of their presentation the crowd went in a frenzy, jumping and prancing in enjoyment when the married combo each chose sides and lyrically dissed each other’s section.

Garlin who is popularly known as the ‘lyrical god’ lived up to his name when he free styled about his first night in Dominica and his desire to taste the island’s national dish. The heavy T-Bumper queen Fayann, thrilled her fans when she sang ‘heavy t-bumper, consider it done and Bruno Mars’ Grenade.’

The legendary Swinging Stars band of Dominica put on a spectacular show to commence night three of WCMF 2011. Following their performance, member of the band Marcel Kitcher recieved an award from the Dominica’s Festivals Commission for his longstanding contribution to music in Dominica.

Zouk Love is a critical part of our culture and it was only fitting that we should feature the Zouk All Stars band which featured Joycelyn Labylle and Alex Cathrin. The band put on a splendid performance for all the many zouk lovers in Dominica. The crowd was very appreciative when the band performed the ever popular ‘Gopwel.’

Reggae superstar Gyptian best known for his hit songs ‘Hold Yuh’, ‘Nah Let Go’, and ‘Beautiful Lady’, was the third act of the evening. The Jamaican artist according to the consensus from patrons of the WCMF gave a very lackluster performance. Although he performed all of his hit songs and few new tracks Gyptian was unable to captivate the crowd. Persons commented that the performance was too short and was disappointed that during a huge chunk of his performance he brought on a fellow artist named Nitchy Scritchy.

Dominica’s self named Bouyon Superstars, Triple Kay Global brought the curtains down on the 15th annual World Creole Music Festival. During the bands performance they recognized the following persons for the influence on the band and music in Dominica in general; Jeff Joseph of Grammacks Fame and Derek ‘Rah’ Peters formerly of the WCK Band. Later this week the band said that they will also be recognizing Chubby of the Midnight Groovers.

The World Creole Music Festival is one that was established 15 years ago with the aim of increasing visitor arrivals into Dominica and showcasing the creole culture. Next years event is expected to be one of a much higher standard as the 3 day event will be celebrating its sweet sixteen. Kudos to the Dominica Festivals Commission for hosting yet another funfilled and enjoyable WCMF 2011. To purchase WCMF memorabilla visit www.zazzle.com/WorldCreoleMusicFest
