The 9th annual Lime Creole in the Park climaxed on October 27th 2011 with Bounty Killer putting on an exceptional maiden performance in Dominica.
Creole in the Park which is the most popular daytime event during the independence season ran from October 24th to 27th despite the rainy and muddy conditions. Patrons flocked into the park to experience and enjoy the dominican art, talent and culture. The event featured Dominica’s top local bands as well as local upcoming talent. The headliners this year were Kes the Band from Trinidad and Bounty Killer from the Jamaica.
During the opening ceremony held on the 24th Lime presented awards to deserving cultural icons. Alwin Bully recieved the Lime’s Lifetime Award for his continued contribution to culture in Dominica and the region. The Giraudel Jing Ping Band was awarded for their contribution to Dominica’s culture for 60 years.
The contributions recieved from patrons during the four day event will go towards the upkeep of the Botanic Gardens and the National Cultural Council. Kudos to Lime Dominica for putting on yet another event of high standard. It was indeed a very enjoyable event despite the muddy and rainy conditions in the park. We can expect next year’s event to supercede this years.
